RUSSELL Crowe has been named the Oscars least deserving best actor for the epic Gladiator.

He figures in a poll by Total Film magazine.

Readers voted Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, the least deserving best picture.

The 1997 film also earned James Cameron the title of least deserving best director.

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow was also shot down in flames.

The Hollywood star broke down in tears when she was awarded the best actress Oscar for her performance in Shakespeare in Love.

But now the 31-year-old, who is expecting a child with Coldplay singer Chris Martin, has been voted the least deserving recipient of a best actress Oscar.

Paltrow was followed by Halle Berry for Monster's Ball and Cher for Moonstruck.

Robert de Niro earned the title of favourite Oscar winner of all time for his performance in Raging Bull.

Jodie Foster was named favourite Oscar winning actress for The Silence Of The Lambs.
